The English poet, George Herbert, stated that ‘a father is worth a hundred teachers’. This quote can be applied to our kids. They are little teachers who teach us great things; optimism, desire, imagination, humour, confidence, calm, forgiveness… If it wasn’t for them, we would probably  not have been able to keep young, accepting frustration, adapting ourselves to the unpredictable, to working in a team, time-management, modifying our preferences, to be expendable …

If educating consists in getting the best out of them, kids educate us more than a hundred teachers. Thanks to them we are, or we try to be, better people.

  • About Pilar Guembe, Carlos Goñi

  • Pilar Guembe and Carlos Goñi are married and parents of Adrian and Paula, from whom they’ve learned so much. They’ve been teachers for twenty-five years, during which they’ve acquired a lot of experience, both in dealing with pupils and as parents. Pilar is a pedagogue and works as a teacher and counsellor. Together, they give conferences and are assessors in educational matters. They both write articles for different media and are authors of No se lo digas a mis padres; no me ralles, and Porque te quiero.
  • Carlos Goñi holds a doctorate in philosophy and is a writer. He is married to Pilar Guembe, with whom he has two children. Together, they give conferences and are assessors in educational matters.
