Original Sin

Irene was a happy child. As happy as one could have been at that time, marked by war, poverty and fear. However, she never understood who were that “lady” and that “sir” that sometimes visited her and took her to the cinema or to have a tea, with whom she had to be very polite and who she never dared to ask questions.

Bit by bit, the reader will be able to unite the pieces of the puzzle and conform a story of love, neglect and loss. Barcelona under the effects of the civil war and the post-war period is the landscape of this tale, in which all the social strata of the epoch participate.

The author is able to report the dramatic events with simplicity, tender and, even, with a bit of humour, and shows a kaleidoscopic reality, where repression, hardness, and social conventions get mixed with the scream for life of the main character.
